Tak­ing bi­cy­cle safety statewide

The state De­part­ment of Trans­porta­tion has re­leased the first draft of the New Mex­ico Bike Plan and will be host­ing pub­lic meet­ings to dis­cuss it. “The plan con­sid­ers how best to pro­vide New Mex­ico res­i­dents and vis­i­tors with a safe and con­nected bi­cy­cle net­work on state main­tained and owned roads and high­ways,” the DOT says. Plan in­for­ma­tion is avail­able at www.bhinc.com/nm-bike-plan. Two meet­ings are sched­uled: Santa Fe, May 21, 6-7:30 p.m., city Rai­l­yard Of­fices, 500 Mar­ket Street, Suite 200; and Al­bu­querque, May 29, 5:30-6:30 p.m., North Val­ley Se­nior Cen­ter, 3825 Fourth NW. Con­sul­tants will an­swer ques­tions and dis­cuss the long-term im­ple­men­ta­tion strat­egy.
