Excited to be a fourth-grader very soon

-

I AM GOING to be a fourth-grader in a couple of weeks. On the first day of summer, I was already excited about becoming a fourth-grader. I bugged my parents to go school shopping, but they told me it wasn’t time yet. I watched videos about school supplies and daydreamed about how I was going to organize my supplies. I finally got to go school shopping. My favorite school supply is my metal crayon box. I have organized it about seven times. I bought four packs of paper, so I think we will be doing lots of writing. I like to use my imagination to write stories.

My teacher is going to be Mrs. Jones. I am excited to have her because she is really nice and will make learning fun. I really like to learn about math, especially when the problems challenge me. My mom always tells me not to be afraid of a challenge, because that will help me learn more. I like to use music and movement to help me learn different subjects. I think some of the fourth-grade work might be challenging at first, but I will get it if I keep practicing.

My mom used to be a teacher, so I know teachers spend a lot of time at school. They have to help the whole class learn new things, and if a couple of kids don’t get it, the teacher has to keep working with them. They have to make copies and plan lots of activities every day. I think it would be hard to be a teacher, because sometimes they have to deal with our attitudes. Every teacher I had was different and helped me learn different things.

I am not sure what I want to be when I grow up, but I know I want to be able to create things. I love doing art projects at home. My parents don’t allow me to have paints in the house anymore, so now I use tapes and markers. I like to create new inventions. I went to a STEM camp and made a 3D mini mansion and robotic dog. It was fun to see the final product. I know I have to try hard in school now so later I can get a job that I want to do.

I’m excited to be a fourth-grader in a couple of weeks. I can’t wait to organize my desk and see all of my friends. This year is going to be amazing. JAYLA MORALES Military Heights Elementary School, Roswell
