Lobo hoops promote Davis, hire new staffer
The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team on Wednesday promoted Ralph Davis to assistant coach, filling the void left from last month’s resignation of Brandon Mason following an arrest on a drunken driving allegation. Davis, the former New Mexico Military Institute head coach, served as the Lobos’ director of operations last season and video coordinator in the 2018-19 season.
“Ralph has been promoted every year he’s been here and it’s a testament to his work ethic and loyalty,” head coach Paul Weir said in a statement.
The Lobos also formally announced the hire of Robert Edwards as video coordinator. He held the same position last season at Texas A&M Corpus Christi and was a graduate assistant at Nevada from 2017-2019.
“I have admired Coach Weir and his program from afar for a long time and I am looking forward to the opportunity to learn from him and other members of the staff,” Edwards said.
