The Sunshine Vitamin

Alternative Medicine - - Health News & Tips -

Here’s another reason to get your kids outside this summer: A long-term study discovered that low vitamin D levels during childhood may result in hardening of the arteries later in life. In fact, those with the lowest vitamin D levels (the bottom 25 percent of all study participants) were almost twice as likely to experience thickened arteries by middle age. Although this association of the sunshine vitamin and artery health isn’t directly linked to heart disease or stroke, these findings suggest that’s something worth pursuing further.
