LOOK GREAT AS YOU AGE

NO SURGERY REQUIRED

Alternative Medicine - - News - BY JAMES LANDEEN, MD

We all know complications can crop up with even the most basic cosmetic surgery procedure. That’s why veteran plastic surgeon James Landeen, MD, advocates for a new, noninvasive neck lift technology.

As a plastic surgeon, when someone comes to me to discuss improving their appearance, I evaluate the severity of the issue. Sometimes people look terrific, but they still think they need a little tweak. Sometimes they’re middle aged and are living a decent lifestyle, but they still have a little sagging here and there. These people aren’t candidates for traditional cosmetic surgery procedures, but now surgery is not the only option.

These advancements are helping a lot more people feel better about how they look. Not every person can or should have plastic surgery. Every operation carries the possibility of complications, so think carefully before exposing yourself to those risks. Talk with your physicians about possible problems because they can be both serious and obvious to the world—we’re talking about your face, after all!

The neck is one area that new technology can improve quickly without sedation or extended down time. If you’ve tried noninvasive treatments but were unhappy with results, if you’re too young for a facelift, or if you fear unnaturallooking results, there is an opportunity for dramatic results without the drama of surgery.

ThermiTight is a nonsurgical, minimally invasive alternative therapy for skin laxity. It uses radio frequency (RF) to stimulate collagen production beneath the skin, which reduces sagging and smooths out texture. It’s a single painless, in-office procedure that takes less than an hour. A tiny probe the size of a toothpick tightens three layers of the neck simultaneously with controlled thermal energy. The temperature of the probe and skin are carefully monitored to ensure a good result.

There are no IVs and no sutures, just numbing of the injection area. You can leave to take care of your family or work immediately afterward. Minor pain and bruising is to be expected, but most people resume their normal activities the next day. The age-reversing results are immediate, they keep improving for up to a year, and last for several years.

So far, more than 20,000 necks have been tightened using this highly effective procedure, at a fraction of what a traditional neck lift usually costs. There have been other RF devices introduced over the years, but ThermiTight is the first one that has earned high ratings from people who have actually experienced how easily and dramatically it can improve their appearance over the long term.

Lifestyle plays a huge part in how healthy we look as we age. Some of the best ways to avoid damage are from the inside out. Prevent the need for cosmetic surgery, invasive or noninvasive, by choosing to live healthfully. As a physician, I’d also be remiss if I didn’t remind you to live the healthiest way possible. Pay attention to your choices; use common sense; be concerned about your body weight and avoid the things that are known to put you at higher risk for diabetes and high blood pressure.

Keep in mind that there’s a booming market for noninvasive procedures nowadays, and some of it is happening without much regulation. While you may be attracted by the promise of getting quick and visible results without surgery, some practitioners are drawn to it only because it is a lucrative cash business. Do your research. Done correctly by the right people, cosmetic procedures using RF, lasers, and even fillers can produce great results.

Soon you can be smiling back at your reflection, loving your neck again, and showing it off instead of covering it up.
