If you find yourself in a survival situation, what are you going to do?

Assess the situation: Don’t panic! Decide whether you need to leave or stay in place. Locate possible threats, and eliminate them by safely and quickly removing yourself from the threat. Do not confront the threat unless you need to. Remember: Use your head.

Locate and collect resources: Whether you are in an urban or natural environment, you need to know what you have and what you need. If you have your pack, you have enough resources to survive for a couple days. Let the environment tell you where to find additional resources, and take advantage of everything you find.

Secure shelter: Establish a safe and defendable shelter to ride out the situation. It is not always the visible dangers that will take you down. Dehydration and exposure will kill you quicker than anything else. A shelter will protect you from the elements.
