In what must be one of the most im­pres­sive ac­com­plish­ments of the an­i­ma­tion book world, es­teemed di­rec­tor Dar­rell Van Cit­ters has as­sem­bled a lovely 352-page col­lec­tion fea­tur­ing al­most a thou­sand il­lus­tra­tions from Jay Ward Pro­duc­tions’ beloved toons. Not only does this lov­ingly crafted cof­feetable book fea­ture a rich se­lec­tion of art­work from Rocky and Bull­win­kle, Frac­tured Fairy Tales, Ae­sop & Son, Dud­ley Do-Right, Hop­pity Hooper, Ge­orge of the Jun­gle and Mr. Pe­abody and Sher­man, Van Cit­ters gives credit where credit’s due—to all the ta­lented artists who worked with Ward at the cre­ative hub. Also, quite amaz­ing is one chap­ter that fo­cuses on the stu­dio’s un­sold se­ries. As he did with his pre­vi­ous book on Mr. Ma­goo’s Christ­mas, Van Cit­ters has paid a great ser­vice to an­i­ma­tion lovers ev­ery­where by putting to­gether this valu­able col­lec­tion.
