Victory Arts Keeps It Short and Sweet
Ottawa company preps distribution ttawa-based Victory Arts understands that short and sweet is the best way to both entertain and educate kids.
That’s the idea behind Alphabet Stories, a series of 26 90-second mixed-media animated shorts tell a whimsical story using letters starting with one letter of the alphabet.
Created by studio president Tero Hollo, Alphabet Stories debuts this fall on TVO, Ontario’s public educational network. Keeping the shows simple, fun and true is the key, says Hollo, who worked with his 5-year-old daughter, Annika, to narrate each episode. The show is scored by award-winning composer, Serge Côté,
“My daughter was learning to read and together we mapped out some key words and images that she felt were fun,” says Hollo. “Our creative team at Victory Arts took her thoughts and expanded on the creative to make these wild little stories flow.”

The experienced animators were inspired by their childhood fantasies of jumping into the adventures they saw on-screen. And the show’s ambitious design is inspired by ’50s animation art.
