FEA­TURES Dis­ney An­nounces Moana Fea­ture for 2016

Walt Dis­ney An­i­ma­tion Stu­dios re­vealed plans for the an­i­mated fea­ture spir­ited teenager on an im­pos­si­ble mis­sion to ful­fill her an­ces­tors’ quest.

Sched­uled for re­lease in late 2016, the film is di­rected by Ron Cle­ments and John Musker, whose pre­vi­ous cred­its in­clude The Lit­tle Mer­maid, The Princess and the Frog and Aladdin.

Luc Cham­ber­land’s doc­u­men­tary Seth’s Do­min­ion won the best fea­ture prize and Hipopotamy took the top short-film honor at this year’s Ot­tawa In­ter­na­tional An­i­ma­tion Film Fes­ti­val.

This year’s fes­ti­val re­ceived 2,033 en­tries from 70 dif­fer­ent coun­tries, se­lect­ing 101 short films and 5 fea­tures — an ad­di­tional 71 films screened out of com­pe­ti­tion.
