Jeff Hale, a pro­lific an­i­ma­tor whose ca­reer spanned more than 50 years and in­cluded The Great Toy Rob­bery and the Lenny Bruce pro­ject Thank You Mask Man, died in late Fe­bru­ary in Ore­gon. He was 92.

Leonard Ni­moy, the ac­tor, di­rec­tor and artist who gave life to Star Trek’s Mr. Spock, died March 8 at his home in Los An­ge­les. He was 83.

Gary Owens, an iconic and pro­lific an­nouncer and voice ac­tor, died Feb. 12 from com­pli­ca­tions re­lated to di­a­betes. He was 80.

Phil Robin­son, co-founder and cre­ative di­rec­tor at San Fran­cisco’s Spe­cial Agent Pro­duc­tions and co-founder of Wild Brain Stu­dios, died Jan. 28.

Sam Si­mon, the nine-time Emmy win­ning writer who co-cre­ated The Simp­sons, died March 8 of col­orec­tal can­cer at home in Los An­ge­les. He was 59.
