Pat­tern Notes

Chain-3 at be­gin­ning of row counts as first dou­ble cro­chet un­less oth­er­wise stated. Chain-2 at be­gin­ning of row counts as first half dou­ble cro­chet un­less oth­er­wise stated. Row 1 (RS): Join yarn at bot­tom cor­ner of Right Front, ch 3, work an odd num­ber of dc evenly up along front edge, around neck in back, and down along the front edge of Left Front, down to bot­tom cor­ner of Left Front, turn.

Row 2: Ch 2, [ bpdc (see Stitch Guide) around next st, hdc in next st] across, turn.

Row 3: Ch 2, [fpdc around next st, hdc in next st] across, turn.

Row 4: Rep row 2.

Row 5: Rep row 2 but aligned with top of shoul­der each side work a dec as fol­lows: fpdc dec (see Stitch Guide) around next 2 bpdc, sk the hdc in be­tween. (2 sts dec on each shoul­der)

Sew 3 but­tons on right front band as fol­lows: top but­ton at the start of V-neck slant and then next 2 ap­prox­i­mately 31/2 inches apart. Sew but­tons close to edge. But­ton in spa­ces be­tween stitches on left band. 

Fringe

Cut 48 16-inch strands of yarn. For each Fringe, fold 8-strand hank in half. In­sert hook from RS in end of row, pull folded end through, catch­ing beg and end tails with hook, pull ends through fold, pull ends to tighten knot. Work Fringe in end of each row across each short end. Block if needed. Trim ends evenly. 
