Winn to run for School Board
LANCASTER — Longtime volunteer education leader Donita Winn announced her candidacy Tuesday for election to represent Trustee Area 3 residents on the Antelope Valley Union High School District Board.
“The Antelope Valley has been my home since 1973,” Winn, who previously served as an elected high School Board trustee from 2002 to 2015, said. “I will bring a lifetime of service to our schools as a past PTA President, honorary lifetime PTA member, School Board trustee, and a founding member of the Aerospace Valley Regional Robotics Competition.”
She said that during her previous service on the High School Board, the District successfully focused on educational excellence and sound financial management.
“Unfortunately, the District’s progress has been brought to a standstill by the irresponsible actions of two current Board members,” Winn said. “It’s time to elect experienced and dedicated leaders who will put the needs of our high schools ahead of personal or political agendas.”
She secured endorsements from several local educators and community leaders.
“Donita will be an outstanding trustee,” Lancaster School District trustee Gregory Tepe said. “She will keep the best interests of students, parents, staff and teachers in mind when making important decisions for the High School District.”
