ATKINS — Robert Paul McCabe, 47, Atkins, Ark., died on May 9, 2015. Robert was born July 17, 1967 to James R. McCabe and Joyce (Neeman) Ramus at Ft. Sill, Okla.

Robert is survived by his two beautiful children, daughter: Myria McCabe of Las Vegas, Nev., and son: Kamren McCabe currently stationed in Okinawa, Japan; his Father: James (Tonya) McCabe of Little Rock and Mother: Joyce (David) Ramus of Benicia, Calif., one brother: Scott Cross of Bald Knob, Ark.; four sisters; Laura (Norm) Thomas of Las Vegas, Nev., Tammy Birge of Fairfield, Calif., Debbie Torres of Livermore, Calif., Tracy (Johnny) Sanchez of Livermore, Calif., as well as 12 nieces and nephews; his maternal grandmothe­r: Hisako Neeman of Benicia, Calif., and a large extended family of Neeman’s though out the United States; McCabe’s and Birge’s in Arkansas.

Robert was truly a proud father to both of his children and supported his son’s enlistment into the US Marine Corp and his daughter’s work in interior design for Williams Sonoma Inc. as well as her continued education at the University in Las Vegas, often saying he couldn’t be more proud. Robert loved his family and never met a stranger. He will be dearly missed by many.

––––– ––––– BENTON — Ronnie Everett, 53, of Benton, was cured of cancer May 17, 2015. He was well known in Arkansas in many circles. He was director of Mr. Bass of Arkansas for 22 years following in his father, Porter Everett’s footsteps. The circuit is currently in its 41st year. He volunteere­d his time to several charitable organizati­ons by emceeing their benefit tournament­s. He and his crew also ran the National Tyson Tournament for several years. He loved the experience of being a boat captain for The Harmony Grove High School fishing team. Ronnie loved the outdoors but fishing was his favorite sport. Not only was he a fisher of fish, his greatest passion was being a fisher of men. He was a longtime member of Holland Chapel Baptist Church where he served as deacon. Ronnie got involved in every ministry he could. He cooked fish when Holland Chapel had their Friday fish fry, he was a leader in AWANA for TNT boys and he served in Amplify Fest. Ronnie loved mentoring to young men in the basketball ministry he helped start 13 years ago. His greatest passion was The Hereafter House, where he was co-director. Ronnie was there from setup to tear down. He was employed by Everett Buick Pontiac GMC, where he won new car salesman of Saline County 2 years in a row. The employees there were more than co-workers, they were family and they will miss him greatly. Whenever you asked Ronnie how he was, he would always reply “Better than I deserve”. He was an over achiever in everything he did, having worked the Friday before his hospital admission Monday and attending church the Sunday before his passing. He never gave up.

He was proceeded in death by his father Porter, and his stepfather Tommy Warren.

Besides his work family and the many fisherman he considered family he leaves his wife of 33 years Lori, his son Dustin Everett, His daughter and son Richard and Stephanie Morgan, and precious granddaugh­ter Elizabeth Claire. His mother Bettie Warren, special Aunt Brenda, brother and sister-in-law Allen and April Everett, nephew Tristan Everett, bonus mom, Pat Huff, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26th at Holland Chapel Baptist Church with services following at 7 p.m. Attire will be Hawaiian shirts, fishing shirts, or bright colors. Shorts and flip-flops are totally acceptable. Come comfortabl­e and be who you are. He wanted to be cremated so there will be no viewing. Just a time to visit and celebrate with Ronnie stories.

––––– ––––– CABOT — Norma Horness, age 84, of Cabot went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday May 22, 2015. She was born in Cabot, Ark., to the late Ivy Emerson Patton and Viona Elizabeth Cole Patton.

She was a loving and caring mother, grandmothe­r, great-grandmothe­r and sister. At present time she was the oldest and longest member of Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. Norma was the salutatori­an of her high school class of 1949. She was also quite a cook, at Thanksgivi­ng and Christmas she cooked it all with some help from her son Gary. They would begin cooking at 4:30 a.m. in the morning and her dressing was liked by everyone. She also loved cooking and working at the nursing home. Norma loved everyone and told them often. If she met you, you were never forgotten. One of her enjoyments was spending Saturdays with Carol and hitting every store. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her son-in-law Don Bevis; one sister Louise Housley and two infant brothers.

She is survived by her daughter Carol Bevis of Cabot; one son Gary (JoBeth) Horness of Gravel Ridge; and their father Carlos Horness; one sister Marjorie McMahan and two brothers Charles (Betty) Patton and Clifford (Susie) Patton all of Cabot; seven grandchild­ren and nine great-grandchild­ren; a host of nieces and nephews.

––––– ––––– CONWAY — Walter Lee Hodges died on May 11, 2015, from complicati­ons of Lewy-body disease. Born May 21, 1930, in Conway, Ark., to Basil and Hazel Hodges. He graduated from Hendrix College in 1952 and married Alicia Bell, from Lepanto, Ark. He served in the navy during the Korean war and achieved a rank of LT. He graduated from George Peabody College in 1960 with a Ph.D in Psychology.

In 1971, he joined the faculty at Georgia State University in Atlanta where he was a professor of Early Childhood Education, served as Chairman of the department, and retired in 1992. Walter enjoyed hiking, running, whitewater canoeing and rafting, volunteeri­ng at Hope Elementary school, traveling, Jekyll Island, celebratin­g life with family and church friends.

Survived by wife of 62 years, Alicia; son Michael; daughters Leanne and Cherie; grandchild­ren Mira, Jonathan, Daniel, and Caleigh.

Memorial services will be held at the UUCA, 1911 Cliff Valley Way, NE, Atlanta, Ga. 30329 on Saturday, June 13, at 1 p.m.

––––– ––––– HOT SPRINGS — Caroline Marie Helmich went to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 87 on Thursday, May 21, 2015, in Hot Springs, Ark.

She was born on December 17, 1927, in Little Rock, the daughter of Jack Funk and Ella Green Funk. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Helmich; her parents; and one sister, Wanda Funk.

Caroline was a lifelong Lutheran and a member of First Lutheran Church in Little Rock. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, gardening and caring for her family. Caroline loved The Lord, her family and her dogs.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Jane Helmich of Destin, Fla.; two daughters and one son-inlaw, Kay Helmich of Hot Springs and Lisa and Stan West of Little Rock; five grandchild­ren, Tom and Amy Helmich, Amy and Rich Wilson, Christy and Danny Copley, Missy and Brady Varnell and Jamie and Dustin Gilmore; nine great-grandchild­ren, Curran Helmich, Marin Helmich, Connor Helmich, Payton Knight, Noelle Copley, Nicholas Copley, Spencer Varnell, Talan Varnell and Eli Gilmore; and her best friend, Jeanie Shimek of Little Rock.

Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. in the Luther Building at the church immediatel­y followed by the service at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 30, 2015, in the First Lutheran Church in Little Rock with Pastor Jonathon Beyer officiatin­g and Pastor Bacic assisting.

He was born July 24, 1940, in Star City, to Reginald and Ercell Scifres Hackney.

He was reared and educated in Star City, graduating from Star City High School.

Mr. Hackney served in the United States Army.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was of the Methodist faith.

He retired from the Union Pacific Railroad after 40 years of service as a machinist.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Bettye Hager Hackney, whom he married on August 31, 1962, in Pine Bluff; a son, James Franklin Hackney Jr. of Star City; daughters, Misty Gaston (Jack) of Roland, Debbie Drake (Shannon) of Star City; a brother, Roger Dale Hackney of Star City; six grandchild­ren and four great-grandchild­ren.

TUSTIN, Calif. — Virginia (Ginger) Pack, 88, passed away on Nov. 15, 2014 at Columns Care Home in Tustin, Calif. Mom had been a resident there for the last two years before suffering a major stroke. Ginger was born on Feb. 10, 1926 in Little Rock, Ark., to parents, Lee and Annie Kelone, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were husband and best friend, Robert Pack, and her three brothers Lee, Earl, and Linus Patrick Kelone.

She is survived by son David Pack and wife Ginger of Palmer, Alaska, and daughter April Lemmer and husband Robert of Aliso Viejo, Calif. Also three grandchild­ren, Erin Davis and husband BJ of Mountain Home, Ark., Cobey Pack of Palmer, Alaska, and, Caleb Brewer and wife Bridget of Crested Butte, Colo.; five great-grandchild­ren, Cobey Pack II, Samuel Pack, Slevin Pack, Hadley Brewer, and Corbin Brewer.

We will miss the mom who was always first down the hill on the sled, awesome bonfire maker, Boy Scout and Girl Scout Leader, dance costume maker, and lover of music. Mom was also an avid reader, and volunteere­d at Terry Elementary School in the library. She was the ultimate homemaker and always there!

We would like to extend a special thanks to the Apex Hospice Team. There is no way that we could have made it through this difficult time without them. Also we would like to thank and acknowledg­e the incredible caregiver team at Column’s Care Home – Jovy, Grace and John. They were so loving and thoughtful the entire time that mom was in their care. We were blessed to find them and they will be forever in our hearts and part of our extended family.

Ginger’s wishes were to be cremated. We will bring her home in June. Memorial service will be private. Memorials may be donated to the YWCA, Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts.

––––– ––––– KILLEEN, Texas — Anna Frances Garvin, age 91, of Killeen, passed away in Temple, Texas on Thursday, May 21, 2015. She was born March 6, 1924 in Hamburg, Ark., to William Frank Strangways and Rosalind Peacock Strangways.

She married James M. Garvin, Jr. in 1946.

She is survived by her husband, James M. Garvin, Jr. and three children, James M. Garvin III of San Antonio, Fred D. Garvin, Sr. and his wife, Linda of Killeen, and Theresa Garvin and her husband, Frank Bullard of Killeen; five grandchild­ren and 10 great-grandchild­ren.

Anna and her husband, James (Jim) lived in Killeen for over 40 years after Jim retired from the U.S. Army and they started their civilian life. Anna retired from Civil Service where she worked as a secretary for Darnall Army Hospital Dental Clinic.

Anna was preceded in death by her mother and father, one sister, and three brothers.

There will be a private family viewing on Monday, May 25 at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home and a graveside service on Tuesday, May 26 at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

The family has asked that memorials be made to the Patriot Guard Riders of Central Texas and mailed to Crawford Bowers Funeral Home at 1615 S. Ft. Hood Rd., Killeen, Texas 76542.

––––– ––––– LAKE KIOWA, Texas — Memorial service for Harold Ray Greene, 87, of Lake Kiowa are set for Wednesday May 27, 2015 at the Lodge in Lake Kiowa at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Larry Kremling officiatin­g. Harold passed away on May 21, 2015 in Denton, Texas.

Harold was born on Sept. 22, 1927 in Terrell, Texas to Samuel Travis and Mickey Ruth Wright Greene. He served in the U.S. Navy and graduated from SMU in 1949 with a degree in Business. He started his own company called Comco Systems in 1968 and is still thriving after 47 years of service.

Harold married Marilyn Jean Johnson on April 3, 1959 in Drexel Hills, Pennsylvan­ia, and they enjoyed 56 years of marriage.

Harold is survived by his wife, Marilyn Greene; daughters Rebecca Greene Jackson and husband Steve, and Melissa Greene Carder. Grandchild­ren, Travis Jackson and his wife Sonja, Jake Jackson and his wife Lisa, Josh Jackson and his wife Kaya, Lauren and Logan Carder. Great-grandchild­ren Parker Jackson, Zayden Carder and Bree Jackson. Sister Ladye Travis Greene and brother Charles D. Greene and multiple nieces, nephews and extended family.
