U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Homeland Security investigators said Thursday that they are investigating the hacking of Leslie Jones’ website that revealed several private details of the actress-comedian’s life. The agencies said their New York office is investigating the intrusion that exposed the driver’s license, passport and intimate photos of the Saturday Night Live star, and in which the hackers put hateful and racially offensive images on Jones’ website. The website was taken offline Wednesday. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman Rachael Yong Yow said the agency does not release information related to active investigations. The Ghostbusters actress also was targeted on Twitter last month with racial slurs and obscene photos. She called on the social networking service to do more to curb harassment, and Twitter banned several users as a result. In recent years, Jennifer Lawrence, Scarlett Johansson, Mila Kunis, Christina Aguilera and Kate Upton have been among Hollywood celebrities who’ve had stolen nude images posted online. Private information and images of celebrities are frequent targets for hackers. In 2012, a site posted credit reports, Social Security numbers and other financial information on celebrities, including Jay Z and his wife Beyonce, Mel Gibson, Ashton Kutcher and many others.
Dwayne Johnson elbowed Robert Downey Jr. aside to become the movie industry’s highest-paid actor with an income of $64.5 million, according to Forbes magazine. The former professional wrestler beat out Jackie Chan, who earned $61 million, and Matt Damon, who received $55 million. The remainder of the list’s top five, released Thursday, included Tom Cruise with $53 million and Johnny Depp with $48 million. Forbes said Johnson, a key part of the Fast and Furious movie franchise, got his earnings from upfront fees for movies including Central Intelligence and Fast 8, as well as the forthcoming Baywatch. Downey, last year’s highest-paid actor, dropped to eighth in the rankings, earning $33 million. Overall, the top male actors make more money than the top female stars. Forbes’ list of the highest-paid actresses, released earlier this week, put Jennifer Lawrence on top with $46 million, followed by Melissa McCarthy with $33 million and Scarlett Johansson with $25 million. All the figures are from June 1, 2015, to June 1, 2016, before fees and taxes.
