2 library branches to close for training
The William F. Laman Public Library and its Argenta branch in North Little Rock will be closed Monday and Tuesday so staff members can train on new computer software, the library system announced.
The library system also said it will be updating some electronic resources for its patrons, and those will remain available while the libraries are closed.
Among online services offered is Listen Now, a new streaming audio service that allows immediate audio book listening with an Internet connection, according
to a library news release. The company’s Axis 360 app also is being upgraded to enhance audio book listening with playback speed controls for Android devices.
Another electronic resource is the Freegal app music streaming service, where users can download seven songs a week for free with a Laman Library card.
The app has 13 million songs and 40,000 music videos available 24 hours a day, according to the news release.
More information on these and several other online services is available on the library website, lamanlibrary.org.
