2 li­brary branches to close for train­ing

The Wil­liam F. La­man Pub­lic Li­brary and its Ar­genta branch in North Lit­tle Rock will be closed Mon­day and Tues­day so staff mem­bers can train on new computer soft­ware, the li­brary sys­tem an­nounced.

The li­brary sys­tem also said it will be up­dat­ing some elec­tronic re­sources for its pa­trons, and those will re­main avail­able while the li­braries are closed.

Among on­line ser­vices of­fered is Lis­ten Now, a new stream­ing au­dio ser­vice that al­lows im­me­di­ate au­dio book lis­ten­ing with an In­ter­net con­nec­tion, ac­cord­ing

to a li­brary news re­lease. The com­pany’s Axis 360 app also is be­ing up­graded to en­hance au­dio book lis­ten­ing with play­back speed con­trols for An­droid de­vices.

An­other elec­tronic re­source is the Free­gal app mu­sic stream­ing ser­vice, where users can down­load seven songs a week for free with a La­man Li­brary card.

The app has 13 mil­lion songs and 40,000 mu­sic videos avail­able 24 hours a day, ac­cord­ing to the news re­lease.
