Arkansas Index rises 0.69, ends at 372.16

The Arkansas Index, a price-weighted index that tracks the largest public companies based in the state, rose 0.69 to 372.16 Wednesday.

“Stocks closed higher with the real estate and utilities sectors outperform­ing as minutes from the Federal Open Market Committee meeting from September were released, questionin­g whether low inflation was transitory,” said Leon Lants, managing director at Stephens Inc. in Little Rock.

Total volume for the index was 32.4 million shares.

The index was developed by Bloomberg News and the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette with a base value of 100 as of Dec. 30, 1997.
