Stretch of U.S. 70 going to one lane

-

Work on $78.5 million project to widen U.S. 70 between Benton and Hot Springs will require a section to be reduced to one lane for four days beginning today, the Arkansas Department of Transportation said.

Traffic between the Tenmile Creek bridge in Saline County and Tenmile Creek bridge in Garland County will be reduced to one lane from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Friday to adjust pavement markings, weather permitting. The creek crosses the highway in both counties.

The new pavement markings will eliminate passing lanes until final paving is completed later this year, the department said.

Flagging operations will control traffic. Motorists should consider alternate routes, including U.S. 270, the department said.
