Arts and Crafts Homes - - UP FRONT -

The Arts & Crafts world, and our editors, lost a bright star and dear friend when Paul Duchscherer passed away in June after a short illness. Paul not only possessed an extensive working knowledge of architectural, interior, and landscape design, but also was one of the most charming DQG HQWKXVLDVWLF LQGLYLGXDOV LQ WKH ƬHOG Honored for restoration work on projects in California and elsewhere, Paul wrote a series of groundbreaking books on residential Arts & Crafts architecture with photographer Douglas Keister, beginning with The Bungalow: America’s Arts & Crafts Home in 1995. Paul’s seminars at the annual Arts & Crafts conferences at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville were always packed. He was a long-time member of Artistic License, a group of skilled professionals working in architectural restoration in the tradition of historic guilds. The Revival will never be the same without Paul.
