Dis­trict Days will be­gin Satur­day

Six Square will host the third an­nual Dis­trict Days Cel­e­bra­tion, a fes­ti­val for cel­e­brat­ing African-Amer­i­can cul­ture, specif­i­cally in East Austin, dur­ing La­bor Day week­end.

A free com­mu­nity fes­ti­val will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Satur­day at Downs Mab­son Fields, 2816 E. 12th St., with live per­for­mances, lo­cal food and re­tail ven­dors, and kids’ activities.

The East Austin Stroll will be at 1 p.m. Sept. 3 and will tour six cul­tur­ally sig­nif­i­cant sites in East Austin: Six Square, the Ge­orge Wash­ing­ton Carver Mu­seum, Oak­wood Ceme­tery, the African Amer­i­can Her­itage fa­cil­ity, Hus­ton-Til­lot­son University and the East 12th Street Busi­ness Cor­ri­dor.

Gen­eral ad­mis­sion tick­ets for the stroll are $35, which in­cludes sam­ples of al­co­holic bev­er­ages and food, and en­ter­tain­ment.

VIP tick­ets are avail­able for $49 and also in­clude a guided tour of the dis­trict and re­served seat­ing at the fi­nal event. The stroll is for ages 21 and older.
