‘CHICAGO’ AT THE CITY THEATRE

Austin American-Statesman Sunday - - THE PLANNER -

8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, 3 p.m. Sunday through Sept. 10. $25-$45. 3823 Airport Blvd. Suite D. 512-524-2870, citytheatreaustin.org

The City Theatre is topping off its summer season with the most razzle-dazzling of stage musical greats, now the longest-running American musical in Broadway history. “Chicago” is set amid the flashy decadence of the 1920s, when housewife and nightclub dancer Roxie Hart murders her on-the-side lover and transforms her malicious crime into sensational headlines reminiscent of today’s tabloids. Expect a jazzy score of “Cell Block Tango,” “Mr. Cellophane” and more.
