Military exhibit on display
An exhibit featuring the tale of Fredericksburg resident Fleet Adm. Chester W. Nimitz is on display through Dec. 31 at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
In the Barbara Jordan Terminal past security checkpoints and available to ticketed passengers only, the 50 Years in Fredericksburg exhibit can be seen in the East Airside Gallery, behind the Austin Article near Gate 8.
The exhibit that showcases Nimitz, who distinguished himself in the Battle of Midway and served as the commander in chief of naval operations during World War II, also shows the history of the National Museum of the Pacific War from the beginning. Passengers at the airport can see how the museum has grown from its original site of the Nimitz Hotel to the 6-acre complex it occupies today.
