Mil­i­tary ex­hibit on dis­play

An ex­hibit fea­tur­ing the tale of Fred­er­icks­burg res­i­dent Fleet Adm. Ch­ester W. Nimitz is on dis­play through Dec. 31 at the Austin-Bergstrom In­ter­na­tional Air­port.

In the Bar­bara Jor­dan Ter­mi­nal past se­cu­rity check­points and avail­able to tick­eted pas­sen­gers only, the 50 Years in Fred­er­icks­burg ex­hibit can be seen in the East Air­side Gallery, be­hind the Austin Ar­ti­cle near Gate 8.

The ex­hibit that show­cases Nimitz, who distin­guished him­self in the Bat­tle of Mid­way and served as the com­man­der in chief of naval op­er­a­tions dur­ing World War II, also shows the his­tory of the Na­tional Mu­seum of the Pa­cific War from the be­gin­ning. Pas­sen­gers at the air­port can see how the mu­seum has grown from its orig­i­nal site of the Nimitz Ho­tel to the 6-acre com­plex it oc­cu­pies to­day.
