Quake kills at least 1 person in Oaxaca

Austin American-Statesman - - THURSDAY BRIEFING -

MEXICO CITY — A strong earthquake rattled a sparsely populated, mountainous area of Oaxaca near Mexico’s southern Pacific coast, killing at least one man who was crushed beneath a rafter that fell from his roof. The magnitude-6.2 earthquake was felt as far north as Mexico City. Officials were still trying to assess the quake’s impact in the remote area, but said they didn’t think there was extensive damage.
