Retired teachers

Austin American-Statesman - - OPINION -

Social Security and the Teacher Retirement System of Texas are basically cousins. Both require workers to contribute a portion of their salaries to a fund for safekeeping so that workers can draw from them after retirement so they will not become destitute.

For the past 11 years, managers of the teachers’ fund have failed to distribute a cost-of-living raise as promised when we were first employed.
