Body found beneath bridge
Austin police are investigating after a man’s body was found early Wednesday near the south end of the Ann Richards Congress Avenue Bridge, a police official said. Police said they received a call at 4:58 a.m. to investigate a bicycle and personal belongings sitting on the sidewalk next to the southbound lanes of South Congress Avenue, Austin Cpl. Wuthipong Tantaksinanukij said.
Tantaksinanukij said the body of a Hispanic man who may have been about 20 years old was discovered on the shoreline area below where the bicycle was found.
No other details about the man or what may have caused his death were released. The man needed to be identified and his family notified, Tantaksinanukij said.
“It’s being investigated as a suspicious death,” Tantaksinanukij said.
