Body found be­neath bridge

Austin po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing af­ter a man’s body was found early Wed­nes­day near the south end of the Ann Richards Congress Av­enue Bridge, a po­lice of­fi­cial said. Po­lice said they re­ceived a call at 4:58 a.m. to in­ves­ti­gate a bi­cy­cle and per­sonal be­long­ings sit­ting on the side­walk next to the south­bound lanes of South Congress Av­enue, Austin Cpl. Wuthipong Tan­taksi­nanukij said.

Tan­taksi­nanukij said the body of a His­panic man who may have been about 20 years old was dis­cov­ered on the shore­line area be­low where the bi­cy­cle was found.

No other de­tails about the man or what may have caused his death were re­leased. The man needed to be iden­ti­fied and his fam­ily no­ti­fied, Tan­taksi­nanukij said.

“It’s be­ing in­ves­ti­gated as a sus­pi­cious death,” Tan­taksi­nanukij said.
