Big Range Dance Fes­ti­val. The in­die dance fes­ti­val of new mod­ern chore­og­ra­phy con­tin­ues with three dif­fer­ent pro­grams this week­end:

The ‘Chore­og­ra­pher’s Chal­lenge.’ 8 p.m. to­day and Fri­day. This chal­lenge pairs six chore­og­ra­phers (Mered­ith Cook, Shawn Nas­ralla, Ken­dra Slack, Cristina Jesu­run, Amanda Jack­son and Kather­ine Hodges) with three com­posers (Adam Sul­tan, Gra­ham Reynolds and the team of Amalia Litsa and Aaron Du­gan) to see how dance­mak­ers do their thing dif­fer­ently but to the same mu­sic.

‘Mu­sic and Move­ment Im­pro­vi­sa­tion.’ 9:15 p.m. to­day and Fri­day. See the re­sults of what hap­pens when dancers work to­gether to im­pro­vise a score and move­ment to bring a new dance to fruition.

‘Mix Show­case.’ 8 p.m. Satur­day, 2 p.m. Sun­day. New con­tem­po­rary dance, multimedia-and move­ment-based per­for­mance art from es­tab­lished and emerg­ing chore­og­ra­phers from Austin and across the coun­try in­clud­ing Lily Sloan, Bethany Nel­son, El­iz­a­beth Rose, Anuradha Naim­pally, NobleMo­tion Dance, FootNotes and Spank Dance. Dances in­clude live mu­sic, elab­o­rate cos­tum­ing, col­lab­o­ra­tive chore­og­ra­phy and timely sub­ject mat­ter.
