Society

Austin American-Statesman - - OPINION -

The juxtaposition on June 27 of Leonard Pitts Jr.’s column on the new Jim Crow movement, Alberta Phillips’ column about Austin’s underprivileged youth and Glenn Beck advising seniors of a Christian college to “shoot to kill” is an example of why our society has become more violent and life has become cheaper.

Sadly, in the name of God, the law and the government, people mean nothing. This is what America and Texas has become. Shannon Hamann
