Flood insurance extension OK’d
About the same time Hurricane Alex made landfall Wednesday night, the U.S. Senate passed a temporary extension of the National Flood Insurance Program. The U.S. House of Representatives already passed a bill to extend the program.
The program was extended until Sept. 30, and the coverage was made retroactive as of May 31.
Flood insurance is important because it is necessary if a consumer wants to buy windstorm and other types of insurance. Also, storm surges are covered by flood insurance.
