grant in storm recovery study
Texas Tech University has been awarded a federal grant to study how communities bounce back after hurricanes. The funding from the National Science Foundation was announced Tuesday by the school in Lubbock.
The $280,000 project is under the direction of Daan Liang, an assistant professor of construction engineering. Liang says the study of economic resilience will focus on the longterm effect of hurricane damages. He has previously studied probability models to determine how the construction of buildings affects their vulnerability during windstorms.
