Gov. Dolph Briscoe, below, the last gentle man and gentleman governor, has passed away.
My father, Charles Purnell, worked for the governor and was always in awe of the depth of Dolph and Janey’s partnership and with the integrity with which they led their public and private lives. Both Briscoes were good friends to our family.
