Stable gasoline prices forecast for Independence Day weekend
The economy may be making people nervous, but drivers should have a happy Fourth of July at the pump. Gasoline prices have changed little this week and, by some analyst estimates, might even fall a bit over the long holiday weekend; even with more people expected on the roads, ample supplies and anemic demand are likely to keep prices fairly stable and below $3 a gallon this summer.
The U.S. average for unleaded gasoline fell 4 cents to $2.75 a gallon Friday, according to Wright Express and Oil Price Information Service. The average in Central Texas was $2.60 a gallon Friday, up 10 cents from a year ago but essentially unchanged from last week.
