FIT FOLKS

JAN DAWES, 63

Austin American-Statesman - - HEALTHYLIVING -

Though past the 50-plus age requirement for the Lamar Senior Activity Center, I thought I was too lively to hang out there. But I figured the affordable yoga class was worth a try. So, twice a week for three years, I’ve been stretching body and soul under the spell of Jogi Bhagat. The breathing exercises helped me survive surgery and a three-week hospital stay. My physical therapist, impressed with how quickly I regained flexibility and balance, attributed my fitness to yoga. It also gives me the energy to keep up with three young grandsons. The main reason I keep going is that it’s fun!
