Woods bogeys way to 7over round in Ireland
Tiger Woods looked just as out of form in a celebrity pro-am as he did on the PGA Tour. The world’s No. 1 golfer arrived Monday in Ireland just hours after his 46th-place finish in the AT&T National and shot a 7-over 79 in the first round of the J.P. McManus Invitational Pro-Am.
The event in County Limerick features Hollywood celebrities and Irish billionaires. Woods bogeyed six holes, double-bogeyed the 7th, and managed a lone birdie on the 17th.
He put three balls in the water but seemed to take it all in stride.
Jim Furyk was among four tied for the lead at 1 under. Woods was tied for 48th place in the field of 54 pros.
Amateur scores weren’t counted, but one in Woods’ foursome, silver-haired Swiss banker Bernard Droux, played more consistently than Woods, who offered him compliments after his precise approach shots and solid putts.
