A brief re­view of Mon­day’s Stage 2 at the Tour de France: stage: A hilly, 125-mile ride from Brus­sels to Spa that fol­lowed some parts of the Wal­loon Ar­row and Liege-Bas­togne-Liege one­day clas­sics.

Win­ner: Syl­vain Chavanel of France fin­ished first on a day when sev­eral high-pro­file rid­ers crashed dur­ing a slip­pery de­scent. Seven-time Tour win­ner Lance Arm­strong, de­fend­ing cham­pion Al­berto Con­ta­dor and the Sch­leck broth­ers all crashed but were not se­ri­ously in­jured.

Who’s in yel­low: Chavanel leads pre­vi­ous front-run­ner Fabian Can­cel­lara of Switzer­land by 2 min­utes, 57 sec­onds.

Where’s lance: Arm­strong slipped from fourth place to fifth, 3:19 in back of Chavanel.
