Making a taxpayer’s heart race

Re: June 27 article “More public money used to attract big events.”

Last Saturday I went to sleep in Texas but woke up in a parallel universe. In the parallel universe, the Sunday paper had a fantasy story about conservative Republicans who used state tax dollars to enrich private companies (including a Formula One racing company). These false conservatives never could have existed in the real Texas, where our small government keeps our tax dollars in our pockets.

Our state government won’t even use tax dollars to help residents who are suffering in poverty, so how could it use our tax dol- lars to make the rich richer?

What’s next in this parallel universe? Will our great white hunter of a governor have to invent a tall tale of shooting a man-eating coyote in order to curry favor with the gun lobby?
