Inexperience at quarterback
Wannstedt has the task of replacing quarterback Bill Stull, a first-team all-Big East player who threw for 2,633 yards and 21 touchdowns against eight interceptions. Sophomore Tino Sunseri is the likely successor, but he does not have much experience. Sunseri, a big recruit who is from Pittsburgh, attempted just 17 passes, completing 10, in five games. He threw for two touchdowns and allowed no interceptions.
Sunseri has an adept bodyguard to usher him through the process. Left tackle Jason Pinkston is one of the best around.
