U.S. forward had multiple fractures
ALLE, Switzerland — Charlie Davies returned to action for the first time since a car crash last October, playing the entire way in Sochaux’s 45-minute exhibition against Neuchatel Xamax in a triangular soccer tournament.
The 24-year-old American forward was involved in a car accident Oct. 13 in Virginia that killed another passen- ger.
Davies had a broken and dislocated left elbow, a broken right femur, tibia and fibula, and a broken nose, forehead and eye socket.
He also was left with a ruptured bladder and bleeding on the brain.
“Feeling good after,” Davies wrote on Twitter following Wednesday’s game. “Took a huge step forward although a couple more steps to take.”
Sochaux lost the exhibition 5-4 on penalty kicks after a 00 tie.
