Davies re­turns from crash

U.S. for­ward had mul­ti­ple frac­tures

ALLE, Switzer­land — Char­lie Davies re­turned to ac­tion for the first time since a car crash last Oc­to­ber, play­ing the en­tire way in Sochaux’s 45-minute ex­hi­bi­tion against Neucha­tel Xa­max in a tri­an­gu­lar soc­cer tour­na­ment.

The 24-year-old Amer­i­can for­ward was in­volved in a car ac­ci­dent Oct. 13 in Vir­ginia that killed an­other passen- ger.

Davies had a bro­ken and dis­lo­cated left el­bow, a bro­ken right fe­mur, tibia and fibula, and a bro­ken nose, fore­head and eye socket.

He also was left with a rup­tured blad­der and bleed­ing on the brain.

“Feel­ing good af­ter,” Davies wrote on Twit­ter fol­low­ing Wed­nes­day’s game. “Took a huge step for­ward al­though a cou­ple more steps to take.”

Sochaux lost the ex­hi­bi­tion 5-4 on penalty kicks af­ter a 00 tie.
