Cen­tral Texas teams fall short

Cen­tral Texas 7-on-7 foot­ball teams came up short twice on Fri­day at the state pass­ing tour­na­ment in Col­lege Sta­tion.

Play­ing in the Di­vi­sion II tour­na­ment for Class 3Aand-smaller schools, Cameron Yoe lost in the fi­nal of the cham­pi­onship bracket. The Yoe­men fell 34-32 to a Brown­wood team led by Texas Longhorns re­cruit Jaxon Ship­ley. Be­fore los­ing to Brown­wood, Cameron Yoe beat its pre­vi­ous four op­po­nents by a com­bined score of 171-91.

Burnet lost in the cham­pi­onship game of the Di­vi­sion II con­so­la­tion bracket, fall­ing to Gra­ham 36-29.

Af­ter strug­gling to a 1-2 record in pool play on Thurs­day, Burnet picked up steam on Fri­day. The Bull­dogs scored more than 30 points in each of their first three games be­fore beat­ing Hardin 27-21 in a con­so­la­tion bracket semi­fi­nal.

A year ago, Gra­ham de­feated Burnet 50-29 in the quar­ter­fi­nals of the cham­pi­onship tour­na­ment.
