good to go

Whoever’s behind center for the Nittany Lions will lean heavily on senior RB Evan Royster, a first-team All-Big Ten pick last season, when he ran for 1,169 yards and six TDs. Royster needs to gain only 481 yards this fall to surpass Curt Warner (3,398 yards) as Penn State’s all-time leading rusher.

On defense, Penn State lost all three of its starting linebackers in 2009 — Sean Lee, Navorro Bowman and Josh Hull — to the NFL, but coaches remain confident in the unit. From 2004-09, Penn State and Ohio State were the only two teams to rank in the top five nationally in rushing defense, scoring defense and total defense.
