Porterfield to run for re-election
City Council Member Kim Porterfield announced Sunday night that she will run for a second term in November. She holds the Place 1 seat.
“I have found serving on the City Council to be challenging but also very rewarding,” Porterfield said in a statement. “I’m committed to this wonderful community, and look forward to continuing to serve the citizens of San Marcos.”
Porterfield, 49, was elected by her council peers as mayor pro tem in November. She was elected to the council in 2007.
This November, the mayor’s seat and City Council seats held by Porterfield and Gaylord Bose will be up for grabs. The filing period for the election begins July 25.
