Porter­field to run for re-elec­tion

City Coun­cil Mem­ber Kim Porter­field an­nounced Sun­day night that she will run for a sec­ond term in Novem­ber. She holds the Place 1 seat.

“I have found serv­ing on the City Coun­cil to be chal­leng­ing but also very re­ward­ing,” Porter­field said in a state­ment. “I’m com­mit­ted to this won­der­ful com­mu­nity, and look for­ward to con­tin­u­ing to serve the cit­i­zens of San Mar­cos.”

Porter­field, 49, was elected by her coun­cil peers as mayor pro tem in Novem­ber. She was elected to the coun­cil in 2007.

This Novem­ber, the mayor’s seat and City Coun­cil seats held by Porter­field and Gay­lord Bose will be up for grabs. The fil­ing pe­riod for the elec­tion be­gins July 25.
