South Carolina fugitive caught
A fugitive who was wanted by authorities in connection with an attempted murder in South Carolina was arrested Monday in South Austin by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, officials said.
Nasadeam Stewart, 19, was arrested in the 8200 block of Hood Circle about 6 p.m. Officials with the task force — which is made up of several Central Texas law enforcement agencies — said Stewart and two other men have been charged in connection with a June shooting. He has been charged with attempted murder and discharging a firearm into a dwelling.
News reports from South Carolina said a 21-year-old was injured in the drive-by shooting. Stewart had been on the run since June 26, officials said.
Keith Antonio Williams, 21, who is also charged in the shooting, is still at large, and Kennard Thomas, 19, has turned himself into authorities. Officers are investigating whether Williams was ever in the Austin area.
Stewart is in the Travis County Jail pending extradition to South Carolina.
