South Carolina fugi­tive caught

A fugi­tive who was wanted by au­thor­i­ties in con­nec­tion with an at­tempted murder in South Carolina was ar­rested Mon­day in South Austin by the Lone Star Fugi­tive Task Force, of­fi­cials said.

Nasadeam Ste­wart, 19, was ar­rested in the 8200 block of Hood Cir­cle about 6 p.m. Of­fi­cials with the task force — which is made up of sev­eral Cen­tral Texas law en­force­ment agen­cies — said Ste­wart and two other men have been charged in con­nec­tion with a June shoot­ing. He has been charged with at­tempted murder and dis­charg­ing a firearm into a dwelling.

News re­ports from South Carolina said a 21-year-old was in­jured in the drive-by shoot­ing. Ste­wart had been on the run since June 26, of­fi­cials said.

Keith An­to­nio Wil­liams, 21, who is also charged in the shoot­ing, is still at large, and Ken­nard Thomas, 19, has turned him­self into au­thor­i­ties. Of­fi­cers are in­ves­ti­gat­ing whether Wil­liams was ever in the Austin area.

Ste­wart is in the Travis County Jail pend­ing ex­tra­di­tion to South Carolina.
