Pair arrested in Burnet County meth bust
Officials say they recovered about 3 gallons of the drug
Burnet County officials said Monday they have arrested two people in what they say is the biggest methamphetamine bust there in recent years.
Capt. Dwight Hardin with the Burnet County sheriff’s office said more than 3 gallons of liquid methamphetamine were recovered Friday in Granite Shoals. When processed into powder, it would make at least five pounds of the finished product for street sales, he said.
Officials estimated the methamphetamine’s street value to be at least $227,000. It is the largest methamphetamine bust in Burnet County in the past 15 years, Hardin said.
Keith Wayne Henson, 53, and Jeanette Louise Turner, 37, were arrested and charged with four drug-related felonies, according to the sheriff’s office. Officials said Turner was the resident of the raided home at 2902 Johnson Drive. Turner has several previous possession and theft convictions, according to public records.
Hardin said Henson was on parole from a 2000 arrest in which he was charged with manufacturing a controlled substance.
Hardin would not go into more details on the case, citing the ongoing investigation. He would not say how long they had investigated the home, nor whether other people were being investigated.
The home underwent surveillance after several confidential sources gave tips to police, Hardin said. He said Henson and Turner could face federal charges.
Certified lab investigators had to wear protective gear while they handled the dangerous substances, Hardin said, and a hazardous materials team destroyed the rest of the chemicals in the home.
Henson and Turner have each been charged with possession of a controlled substance, unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance, possessing or transporting certain chemicals with the intent to manufacture a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. They have been booked into the Burnet County Jail with bail set at $425,000 each.
Burnet, Granite Shoals and Marble Falls police, the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Heart of Texas Auto Theft Task Force assisted in the case.
Keith Wayne Henson was arrested on felony drug charges.
Jeanette Louise Turner lived at site of drug bust, officials say.
