Iowa St. lands talented transfer

Austin American-Statesman - - SPORTSBRIEFING -

Royce White needed a second chance, and Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg needed talent. White, a skilled freshman power forward, left Minnesota under a cloud and agreed Monday to play for Iowa State. He’ll have to sit out a year, barring an appeal to the NCAA. White was suspended at Minnesota for several off-the-court incidents.

White is the fourth transfer Hoiberg has signed since he took over for Greg McDermott in April, joining guards Darion “Jake” Anderson (Northern Illinois) and Chris Babb (Penn State), and forward Anthony Booker (Southern Illinois). Three potential starters transferred out of the Cyclones program.
