Candy box bombing injures woman
Federal agents are investigating the explosion of a bomb disguised as a candy box that injured a Houston woman.
The 56-year-old woman is recovering at home after having surgery for an injury to her left hand that she suffered in the bombing.
The explosion occurred at the woman’s northwest Houston home Friday night when she opened a candy box that she had received several weeks before. The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said the exploding package sprayed the woman with nails and tacks.
ATF Assistant Special Agent Robert Elder said the woman was the target of the bomb, but no motive has been determined.
