Pan­han­dler stabbed cou­ple, po­lice say

A woman stabbed a man and a woman on Sixth Street on Mon­day af­ter they re­fused to give her money, ac­cord­ing to an ar­rest af­fi­davit filed Wed­nes­day.

Austin po­lice say Paula Livsey, 26, was beg­ging two passers-by, Brian Fiorello and Holly Ritchie, for money near Sixth Street and San Jac­into Boule­vard. When Fiorello said no, ac­cord­ing to the af­fi­davit, Livsey be­gan hit­ting him.

The af­fi­davit says Livsey then took a knife from her back­pack and slashed Fiorello on his arms and hands. Po­lice said one of Fiorello’s fin­gers was “missing a large chunk of flesh … that was later re­cov­ered.”

Ritchie told po­lice that she sus­tained a mi­nor cut to her throat, the af­fi­davit said, while Fiorello was taken to Uni­ver­sity Med­i­cal Cen­ter Brack­en­ridge for “sig­nif­i­cant lac­er­a­tions and blood loss.”

When po­lice ar­rived at the scene, Livsey was be­ing wres­tled to the ground by an off-duty po­lice of­fi­cer. Po­lice seized a Smith & Wes­son knife with a 3-inch blade that had blood on it, the af­fi­davit said.

Livsey has been charged with felony ag­gra­vated as­sault with a deadly weapon and was in the Travis County Jail on Wed­nes­day with bail set at $75,000.
