Two po­lice of­fi­cers sus­pended

Austin po­lice of­fi­cials have sus­pended two of­fi­cers for vi­o­lat­ing de­part­men­tal rules, ac­cord­ing to dis­ci­plinary memos.

Of­fi­cer Jef­frey Ro­driguez was sus­pended for a day, a memo said, af­ter his gun was dis­charged ac­ci­den­tally dur­ing a foot pur­suit in Fe­bru­ary. No one was in­jured.

Of­fi­cer Lori Nor­iega was sus­pended for a day stem­ming from a June 4 in­ci­dent. A dis­ci­plinary memo said that while she was driv­ing her pa­trol car, she slowed down for a red light in South Austin, checked a mes­sage on her pa­trol car com­puter and struck the rear of a car in front of her. No in­juries were re­ported, and the car she struck sus­tained mi­nor dam­age, the memo said.
