Express’ Banks takes loss for PCL All-Stars
Round Rock hurler touched for 2 runs in pivotal 6th inning
ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Round Rock Express pitcher Josh Banks allowed two runs in the sixth inning, giving the International League a 2-1 comeback victory over the Pacific Coast League on Wednesday night at the Triple-A All-Star game.
The IL has defeated the PCL in six of the last eight All-Star games, and holds a 7- 6 lead since the series began in 1998.
Entering the sixth with a 1-0 lead, Banks gave up a leadoff double to Louisville’s Chris Valaika. With one out, Syracuse’s Chase Lambin doubled to score Valaika. Durham’s Elliot Johnson then singled to bring home Lambin.
Banks, who took the loss, allowed two runs and three hits in his only inning.
Rochester’s Anthony Slama worked a spotless top of the sixth inning for the victory.
