warm­est June on record, sci­en­tists say

WASHINGTON — Last month was the warm­est June on record, fed­eral sci­en­tists said, World­wide, the av­er­age tem­per­a­ture in June was 61.1 de­grees Fahren­heit, the Na­tional Oceanic and At­mo­spheric Ad­min­is­tra­tion said. That was 1.22 de­grees warmer than av­er­age for June. NOAA also said that Arc­tic sea ice cov­ered 4.2 mil­lion square miles, which is the least June ice cov­er­age since records be­gan in 1979.
