Residents flee still-rising Rio Grande

Austin American-Statesman - - METRO & STATE -

Floodwaters from the Rio Grande pushed over the banks into the Chimney Park RV Resort in Mission on Thursday, submerging much of the property. Reservoir levels at Falcon Lake broke half-century-old records, prompting more dam releases and causing more flooding downriver.

A replica of a Moai figure from Easter Island got a change of scenery Thursday as workers moved it, a fellow Moai and a mock Stonehenge from Hunt to the Hill Country Arts Foundation in nearby Ingram. Adam Koehnke, above, did some of the prep work before the head of the 1,200-pound replica was removed. Below, from left, general contractor Jon Cox, Cavin Felts and Jimmy Lackey work to get the piece into position in its new home. Ingram is just outside Kerrville.
