Steinbrenner, Sheppard honored tonight
NEW YORK — Reminders of George Steinbrenner’s reign will be everywhere tonight at Yankee Stadium.
And after a pregame video tribute and moment of silence to honor both Steinbrenner and legendary public address announcer Bob Sheppard, the Yankees will begin the season’s second half against the second-place Tampa Bay Rays.
Wreaths will be placed in front of Steinbrenner’s statue outside the stadium and at Sheppard’s plaque in Monument Park.
The average asking price of tickets on the market for resale for tonight’s game has gone up 85 percent to $173 since Steinbrenner’s death, according to FanSnap.com.
