Stein­bren­ner, Shep­pard hon­ored tonight

NEW YORK — Re­minders of Ge­orge Stein­bren­ner’s reign will be ev­ery­where tonight at Yan­kee Sta­dium.

And af­ter a pregame video trib­ute and moment of si­lence to honor both Stein­bren­ner and le­gendary pub­lic ad­dress an­nouncer Bob Shep­pard, the Yan­kees will be­gin the sea­son’s sec­ond half against the sec­ond-place Tampa Bay Rays.

Wreaths will be placed in front of Stein­bren­ner’s statue out­side the sta­dium and at Shep­pard’s plaque in Mon­u­ment Park.

The av­er­age ask­ing price of tick­ets on the mar­ket for re­sale for tonight’s game has gone up 85 per­cent to $173 since Stein­bren­ner’s death, ac­cord­ing to FanS­
