Officer appealing suspension

Austin American-Statesman - - LOCALBRIEFING - Compiled from wire reports

Disciplinary action is pending against an East Texas police officer who is shown on a dashboard camera video slamming a handcuffed suspect face first onto the hood of a squad car.

Paris Police Chief Bob Hundley said Friday that Officer Jeremy Massey has appealed his suspension of two days without pay to an independent arbitrator. That hearing was held in late June, with no decision announced.

Massey served a two-day suspension for a November incident in which he was shown on dashcam video slamming 18year-old Cornelius Gill face first into the hood of a police car.

Hundley said he took issue with the amount of force used by Massey. The officer’s attorney says his client acted appropriately.
